Scarecrow Hill - ShinXChange March by finiens Scarecrow Hill - ShinXChange March by finiens
Alternative title: 'Dis is myyyyy scarecrow! Stay away evil birds!D:<'

Well, as you probably guessed already this painting is my part of marchs :iconshinxchange:. I got to draw ADigitalArtists dragon character Corvus. I only had a written description of him.... and I am bad, really, really bad with those.X´D
So against all odds I hope this little fellow looks at least halfway as he is supposed to. If not... oh look, there are pretty ravens in the background!%D

Anyway, I had fun working on this. It was nice to draw a more interesting angle again and play around with an odd composition. At least odd for me.:D

Oh, written descriptions give you so much power, and responsibility it's scary ^^"
He looks like an ancient creature but his playfulness while guarding his scarecrow nicely contrast with his looks :)

Especially when they are the likes of 'That are his colours, he has scales and wings and legs and claws and a head like this, the rest I haven´t thought of yet. Do your best.'.XD
I´m horrible with written descriptions. My imagination and what I consider pretty or cute mostly differ from the general opinion, so I always compromise between my taste and what´s popular. That´s why I only accept characters with complete references for commissions. It´s just too much work to redo a sketch over and over again because it doesn´t fit the customers preferences.D:

Yeah, I feel for you. I couldn't do commissions like those. I always think that my way of doing things is the best, so I would have issues with someone trying to correct me. Even though I understand that different people have different  ideas. Still I consider myself a person with a good taste :P
I see for example how ours tastes differ, but on equal level, I would say. I consider you a person with exceptionally good taste when it comes to creatures or colours and composition ^^

Most of the time my customers agree with my taste. It´s pretty rare that I have to make corrections. Mostly this is for people who don´t or just started to watch me. They are not quite familiar with my style and tend to expect something completely different from it/me, although I always try to explain my ideas and the following drawing process to them. Well, in the end most of them are content with the painting, even if it means changing some things and inevitably more work for me. All part of my service.XD

Yeah, that's good then xD
I guess, watchers know what to expect, so it's not too bad :)

The pose looks awesome! It really looks like it's moving :3
Wings are perfect, the fingers and membranes c: -The ravens look pretty neat as well!

Thank you.:)
I didn´t make the ravens as detailed... what I kind of regret in hindsight, since the rest of the bg is kind of crappy.XD
I´m still pretty happy about the pose. There are some parts that look a bit off, but since I just came out of a long artblock I´m not too worried about it.

No problem c:
I think you did a great job on the ravens, maybe,in my opinion, they could get too detailed and stand out too much of the drawing.
There are always parts where we think is wrong, but it's a matter of practising and always learn with the mistakes :3
